How will it be delivered?

U.Dance includes dance performances at 4 stages plus Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for teachers and dance practitioners.

The four stages are as follows:

Stage One: School dance performances that involve local clusters and families of schools as well as School Sports Partnerships as a whole and small or informal out-of-school (youth) dance performances.

Stage Two: County dance performances for all school aged young people and regional dance performances for 5 to 11 year olds.

Young people do not need to have participated in a Stage 1 event to take part at Stage 2.

Stage Three: Regional and sub-regional (i.e. covering more than one county) dance performances for 11 to 19 year olds. At Stage 3, regional dance organisations will deliver events that form part of the selection process for the biennial National Dance Performance (Stage 4 below). Young people do not need to have participated in a Stage 1 or 2 event to take part at Stage 3.

Stage Four: National Dance Performance (known as U.Dance England) for 11 to 19 year olds. Managed by YDE this biennial event will involve young people who have been selected at Stage 3 events, from across the 9 regions of England.

Stage 1 and 2 events (or school and county dance performances) will run independently so that there is maximum flexibility created in local delivery. Stage 1 and 2 events will also encourage primary school aged pupils to participate. In addition to this there will be opportunities for regional primary dance performances for children aged 5 to 11 years.
